Producer: Francois Collard
Region: Costieres de Nimes
This 30 hectare property is run by Francois Collard, an extremely gifted viticulteur and winemaker based in the Costieres de Nimes. The name "Tour de Beraud" refers to the 11th centure fire tower found on the southern slopes of the vineyards. The vineyards are very similar to the vineyards in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a combination of sandstone, chalk and clay and covered with the typical "galets" or large pebbles which prevent water evaporation during the hot summer days and reflect heat back on the vines during the nights. The Mistral wind keeps the grapes dry and healthy at the same time and help to ensure optimum ripeness. The wine is a skillful blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan with the vibrant fruit of Grenache and Carignan and the spicy, peppery notes from the Syrah.
