Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2008

Producer: Vincent Girardin
As with all the wines from Vincent Girardin this is handharvested and then carefully matured in oak to create a lovely, balanced expression of Chardonnay. The rigorous selection process eliminates any fruits that are not fully ripe, ensuring that the oak-aged liquid is of the highest quality. This bright pale lemon coloured wine has a complex bouquet of oatmeal and Chardonnay fruit. The rich palate is deliciously rich, with a complexity and racy acidity that persists to the long, taut finish. Enjoy from now to 2010 with rich fish or chicken dishes. This is very interesting to compare with Roger Belland's Santenay 1er Cru Clos de Beauregard - from the same vineyard but made from Pinot Noir instead.
