The Hawke's Bay Merlot is from a vineyard inland from Te Awanga, which protects the vines against the frost that has done such damage in Hawke's Bay in the past few years. The wine is matured for 4 months in new and older oak and then gently fined with egg white which is a common technique. The Hawke's Bay Merlot is deep crimson in colour, with cassis, wild berry fruit and toasty oak on the nose. On the palate, it is rich and full, with soft ripe tannins and good length.
