Collezione de Marchi Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Producer: Isole e Olena
It seems that everything that Paolo de Marchi touches turns to gold. Back in the 1970s the local villagers were not impressed with Cabernet Sauvignon and when Paolo did his first harvest they were all watching and saying "poor, poor Paolo" as they saw the small berries coming in. This has all changed now and his Cabernet Sauvignon is firmly established as one of Italy's top wines. Originally planted to go into his Chianti Classico, Paolo has since had second thoughts about using Bordeaux varieties for Chianti Classico and instead has crafted this superb example of Cabernet Sauvignon. The quality of the wine was confirmed by the 2001 winning a gold medal at the 2007 International Wine Challenge. "The 2001 Cabernet Collezione De Marchi is even more impressive, lovely in its focused and layered expression of blackberry fruit, vanilla, and minerals, savoury in flavour, velvety in texture, and with the size and weight of a fine Medoc. Drink: 2006-2020. Score - 93." Daniel Thomases, www.erobertparker.com, April 2006. Older vintages may be available, contact us for further details.
