McRae Wood Shiraz 2005

Producer: Jim Barry
Region: Clare Valley
In 1964 Jim Barry purchased 70 acres of land from Duncan McRae Wood and planted it with Shiraz - an inspired choice of both location and grape variety. 40 years on the wines from this location continue to go from strength to strength. In 2003 there was no production of "The Armagh" and instead all the grapes were used for the McRae Wood. This fabulous, full-bodied Shiraz crammed with dense concentrated fruit, toasty French oak and velvety tannins, fills the mouth with flavour. With superb definition, a great texture, and a long, rich, concentrated, smooth finish, it will provide great pleasure over the next 5-7 years. Enjoy with lamb chops, pork loin and grilled steak.
