How To Join the AdVintage Wine Plan

To join the AdVintage Wine Plan and benefit from our wine recommendations, simply tell us about the wines you prefer, how much you want to spend and how often you want deliveries.

In the form below you will find a list of the major types of wines, based on the grape types used, with examples of each type. Let us know your preferences or leave the decision to your Advintage wine consultants and we will ensure you receive a wide variety of quality wines to help you discover your favourites.

Red Wine types
Cabernet Sauvignon based wines - The world's most famous red wine grape and the main grape in Bordeaux wines from Medoc and Graves. Also grown in almost all other parts of the world with more or less success. Often recognised by its aroma of blackcurrants and making wine that benefits from from substantial ageing.
Pinot Noir based wines - The red wine grape of Burgundy and now also successfully grown in Oregon, California and New Zealand. Very expressive grape that at its best produces lovely scented and fruity wines.
Merlot based wines - The most widely planted grape in Bordeaux and the principal grape in the wines from Saint Emilion and Pomerol. Also grown throughout France and in California, South Africa and Chile. Often softer and more velvety wines than Cabernet Sauvignon.
Syrah/Shiraz based wines - As Syrah the grape responsible for the great wines of the Northern Rhone and now also grown throughout South Africa and Australia as Shiraz. Produces rich, ripe, full-bodied, spicy wines and is often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, especially in Australia.
Tempranillo based wines - The principal grape of Spain and the main ingredient in both Rioja and Ribero del Duero. A wide range of wines from classic oak-aged Rioja to more fruity, deep-coloured wines.
Sangiovese based wines - The most planted grape in Italy and the principal grape behind Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Well-structured, smooth wines in a large variety of styles from light, easy-drinking to dark, tannic wines that need long-term ageing.
Other Italian red wines - Italy produces a range of other wines based on grapes such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. They often provide great value for money and are seriously drinkable especially with Italian food
Other red wine types - There is a whole world of other red wine types to try and we will continually seek out the best of these. Examples could be serious Zinfandel from California, Malbec from Argentina and South African Pinotage.
White Wine types
Chardonnay based wines - Probably the most famous grape of all and originally the grape behind Chablis and Burgundy white wines. We focus on the more serious examples of Chardonnay which make great food wines.
Sauvignon Blanc based wines - Crisp, dry, aromatic and very distinctive wines from all over the world. Traditionally grown in the Loire valley (for instance Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume) and also Bordeaux, now successful examples can be found all over the world, particularly from New Zealand, California, Chile and South Africa.
Dry Riesling based wines - A very undervalued grape at the moment, but capable of producing truly memorable wines. The dry Rieslings make excellent food wines, the classic regions for this grape are Germany, Alsace, but increasingly great examples can be found from Austria, New Zealand and Australia.
Other white wine types - The range and diversity of white wines made throughout the world is staggering and we are always on the lookout for great wines at great prices. Examples include the diverse white wines of Italy, Spain and Portugal and New World discoveries from South America.
Sweet white wines - A range of sweet white wines are made which are delicious with dessert. Examples include classics such as Sauternes, quality German and Austrian wines and also sweet wines from the rest of the world such as Tokaji from Hungary, Ice Wine from Canada and 'stickies' from Australia.
Champagne/sparkling wines - Champagne is the ultimate sparkling wine but great quality (and value for money) can also be found from the rest of the world, including New Zealand, Australia, Spain and England.

The wines for the AdVintage Wine Plan may come from our current Wine List, but may also be wines that are available in even smaller quantities and never even make it to our list. Whatever the case we promise great quality and great value for your money! Together with your wines you will also receive a description of each wine to help you enjoy your wines to the full.

Your first case of wine will usually be delivered within 1 week and you will receive confirmation of this within 24 hours. After this you will receive a case of great value wine tailored to your needs at your chosen interval. We will contact you 1 week before each delivery to confirm and receive any feedback you may have on the wines you have tried - this helps us to choose the right wines for you. You can also make changes to your AdVintage Wine Plan at any time by contacting us.

If paying by Credit Card your e-mail confirmation will contain a link to enable you to make payment using PayPal (the solution also used by eBay). This is one of the safest ways of making credit card payments online as we will never see your card details.

All prices are inclusive VAT. Delivery is free for Southwest London and Surrey or by arrangement and for orders above £150, otherwise a delivery charge of £5.00 per case of 12 bottles apply for mainland UK. For delivery in the rest of the UK please contact us for a quote.
